Firmac Machines Ltd was formed in 1985 as a sister company to Firth Sheet Metals who had been Duct Manufacturers for twenty years. General dissatisfaction throughout the industry at that time with the available machines led Firmac’s founder, Colin Firth, to design their first machine, the ADF System (Automatic Duct Former).
The ADF System was conceived to automate the duct forming process in the most reliable way possible and was made available with 3, 4 and 6 uncoiling stations, making it possible to form a 1 piece duct, including ‘U’ or ‘L’ sections. To complement the ADF, Firmac designed and produced the Nuloc Seam Closing Machine which closes the full wrap duct produced on the ADF.
Following the successful response within the industry to their first machines, Firmac went on to design and build many more machines. Firmac Machines enviable reputation has continued to grow worldwide, thanks to its continuing innovations and no-compromise approach to build quality, ensuring utmost reliability. This has led to Firmac supplying to every corner of the world whilst achieving a large part of the UK market.
In 1990 the idea was born to design a machine which would eliminate all the separate processes needed in producing ducts with flanges. This revolutionary concept would do away with the time consuming and costly need to buy, cut and install separate flanges on the plain ducts. Firmac Machines vision was successfully realised in 1992 when they introduced and demonstrated their new Pro-Duct CGF Machine. For the first time a single machine was able to produce a duct with an integral Continuous Girth Flange with completely sealed seams from coil.
In 2006 we will see the development and presentation of the Pro-Duct CGF2 which will take its place alongside the existing Pro-Duct CGF1 in its own right. The concept and construction will be almost identical between both machines, except the duct flange profile produced will be of a simpler American type. This will open the market considerably by offering the Pro-Duct concept at a lower price band in areas where flange standards do not require the heavy duty CGF 1 Flange. Over the years Firmac has developed many other innovative duct forming systems and ancillary machines including the worldwide favourite machine the "MiniLine", which not only allows smaller companies to step into duct production from coil, but also supplies larger companies who may have a place for this machine to meet certain production requirements. Based on the highly successful ADF machine, the MiniLine incorporates many of the same features in a smaller machine but without compromising Firmac’s renowned quality standards. By eliminating such features as Auto Coil Select which reduces bed space making a more compact machine, it is the ideal starter machine with low investment cost.
Firmac will always continue to innovate and provide the best machines the industry can offer and, whilst cost is an important factor for any machine, no compromise will be taken in the machine build quality. This was the philosophy when Firmac created their first machine and the success and reputation already achieved will ensure it never changes.
